Slip-on flanges to ASME B16.5 / EN 1092-1 - the pipe slips through the bore and is secured by two fillet welds, the economical choice for general service where the joint is not radiographed.

Product Overview

The slip-on flange is the economical general-service type: the pipe passes through the flange bore and is held by an inside and an outside fillet weld. It is easier to align than a weld neck and needs no precise pipe-end preparation, which suits it to lower-pressure and lower-temperature duty.

When to Specify Slip-On

Choose SO for general service where cost and easy alignment matter more than fatigue strength, for lower pressure classes, and where the flange weld does not have to be radiographed. Fillet welds carry less fatigue resistance than a butt weld, so it is not the type for severe cyclic service.

Specifications and Standards

Slip-on flanges in 1/2-24 inch to ASME B16.5, EN 1092-1, GB/T 9124 and JIS B2220, Class 150 and 300 stocked with 600-2500 on request. Raised face standard; flat face on request. The bore is sized to slip over the pipe outside diameter and is then secured by an inside and an outside fillet weld - tell us the pipe OD so the bore clearance is correct. Materials ASTM A182 F304/304L, F316/316L, F321, duplex F51/F53, F44 (254 SMO) and nickel alloys.
