Lap Joint Flange (ASME B16.5)

Lap joint flanges used with lap joint stub ends - the flange rotates freely for easy bolt alignment and dismantling, and allows cost-efficient material combinations such as a carbon steel flange with a stainless stub end.

Product Overview

The lap joint flange is a ring that slips over a lap joint stub end: the stub end provides the sealing face while the flange behind it rotates freely. That freedom makes bolt-hole alignment easy where two flanges must meet at an awkward angle, and the flange can be re-used.

When to Specify Lap Joint

Choose LJ where frequent dismantling for cleaning or inspection is expected, where bolt alignment is difficult, or where the wetted part must be an alloy while the backing flange need not be - a carbon steel flange paired with a stainless stub end is a common cost-saving combination. Always order the matched stub end, listed separately in this category.

Specifications and Standards

Lap joint flange rings within our 1/2-24 inch range, to ASME B16.5 and its EN / GB / JIS equivalents; Class 150 and 300 stocked, 600-2500 on request. The flange is flat-faced and is always used with a matched lap joint stub end, which provides the sealing surface while the flange rotates behind it. Order the flange and stub end as a pair - the matched stub ends are listed separately in this category. Materials ASTM A182 F304/304L, F316/316L, F321, duplex F51/F53 and nickel alloys.
