How a Spring Driven Reel Works
A snail spring supplies the motive power, so the reel rolls and releases the hose or cable automatically without consuming electricity. A sliding ring and carbon brush frame carries power to the rotating drum, keeping the supply continuous and smooth while the drum turns.
Structural Characteristics
The spring supplies the drive in place of a motor; the slip ring and carbon brush frame transmit power across the rotating joint; and a reversible mechanism lets the drum rotate forward and backward. The result is a simple, self-contained reel that needs no separate drive power.
Where It Is Used
Industrial plants, workshops, loading areas and utility installations where hose or cable has to be stored and paid out repeatedly. Spring-driven reels suit duties where the pull-out distance is fixed and no motor control is wanted.
