Covers for Roads and Sewer Openings
A ductile iron manhole cover is set into urban roads and sewer openings to close the access while carrying traffic load. Ductile iron is used rather than grey cast iron because its nodular structure gives markedly better plasticity and toughness, so the cover resists impact and repeated wheel loading.
Anti-Theft Connection
Anti-theft measures are built into the connection points between the cover and the frame, which prevents the cover being lifted out and removed - a common problem for municipal authorities, and a direct safety risk when a cover goes missing from a carriageway.
Where It Is Used
Urban road manholes, sewer and drainage openings, and municipal utility access points - installed where the cover has to carry vehicle traffic and stay in place under load.
Selection Notes
Confirm the clear opening size, the load class the cover must carry, the frame type and the surface finish. The cover and frame are normally supplied as a matched set.
