PV Bracket Materials Compared: Hot-Dip Galvanized vs Zinc-Al-Magnesium vs Aluminum
Bracket material decides a solar project's 25-year maintenance bill. We compare hot-dip galvanized steel, zinc-al-magnesium coating and aluminum on corrosion, cost and structure with EPC experience.

Photovoltaic brackets are 25-year assets exposed to weather. Material choice drives both upfront cost and lifetime maintenance - and the right answer differs between rooftop, ground and agrivoltaic sites.
Hot-dip galvanized carbon steel
Zinc coating 40-85um on C-steel sections (41x21 to 41x72) is the cost-effective baseline for most ground and rooftop projects, with mature roll-forming supply and easy field adjustment.
Zinc-Al-Magnesium coated steel
Zn-Al-Mg coatings at 80g and 275g extend corrosion life significantly - the preferred choice for high-humidity, coastal and agricultural sites such as fishing-light complementary systems.
Aluminum alloy
Aluminum keeps weight down for rooftop structures with load limits, at a higher material cost - best where roof loading, not corrosion, is the constraint.
From materials to full project supply
We supply brackets at 3.5 GW annual capacity, and support overseas solar projects with the complete material package - modules, brackets, inverters and mounting accessories - from one source.
